About Pine Barrens

Pine Barrens, Land, designed by Rebecca Guay first released in Oct, 1997 in the set Tempest and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

A deck that focuses on mana fixing and color flexibility, such as a multicolor deck with both black and green spells, would benefit from using Pine Barrens. While Pine Barrens provides the option to generate both black and green mana, the drawback of dealing 1 damage to you may not be ideal in all situations. Other dual lands like Overgrown Tomb or Watery Grave may be better options as they provide the same colors without the drawback, making Pine Barrens a less optimal choice for competitive play unless specific synergies or strategies require its unique abilities.
