Encroaching Wastes, Land, designed by Richard Wright first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
Encroaching Wastes would be beneficial in a control or land destruction deck looking to disrupt their opponent's mana base. However, there are better options such as Ghost Quarter or Field of Ruin which can target any land, not just nonbasic ones, providing more versatility and utility. Encroaching Wastes could still see play in specific metas where nonbasic lands are prevalent, but overall, it may not be the most optimal choice in most scenarios.
