About Consul's Lieutenant

Consul's Lieutenant, Creature — human soldier, designed by Daarken first released in May, 2020 in the set Magic Origins and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Consul's Lieutenant would fit well in a White Weenie aggro deck in Magic: The Gathering, where its First Strike ability and Renown trigger can quickly turn it into a powerful threat. While it provides a nice buff to other attacking creatures if renowned, there are potentially better options like Thalia's Lieutenant or Student of Warfare that offer more consistent benefits or faster growth potential. Consul's Lieutenant could see play in a more budget or theme-focused deck, but may not be a top choice for competitive play.

Rules

06/22/15

If a renown ability triggers, but the creature leaves the battlefield before that ability resolves, the creature doesn’t become renowned. Any ability that triggers “whenever a creature becomes renowned” won’t trigger.

06/22/15

Renown won’t trigger when a creature deals combat damage to a planeswalker or another creature. It also won’t trigger when a creature deals noncombat damage to a player.
