About Champion of Rhonas

Champion of Rhonas, Creature — jackal warrior, designed by Winona Nelson first released in Apr, 2017 in the set Amonkhet Promos and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.

A deck that focuses on powerful creatures with strong enter-the-battlefield effects would benefit from using Champion of Rhonas, as it provides a way to cheat those creatures onto the battlefield without paying their full mana cost. While Champion of Rhonas can be a strong card in the right deck, there are other cards like Ilharg, the Raze-Boar that offer a similar effect with additional benefits, making them potentially better choices depending on the deck's strategy. Overall, Champion of Rhonas could see play in certain creature-heavy strategies that can take advantage of its ability to put creatures into play for a reduced cost.

Rules

04/18/17

All attackers are chosen at once. You can’t attack with Champion of Rhonas, put a creature card onto the battlefield, and then attack with that creature.

04/18/17

If you gain control of another player’s creature until end of turn and exert it, it will untap during that player’s untap step.

04/18/17

You can’t exert a creature unless an effect allows you to do so. Similar effects that “tap and freeze” a creature (such as that of Decision Paralysis) don’t exert that creature.
