Baleful Stare, Sorcery, designed by John Coulthart first released in May, 1997 in the set Portal and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
A deck that focuses on red mana and burn spells would benefit from using Baleful Stare in Magic: the Gathering. However, there are better cards like Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek that provide more versatile hand disruption. Baleful Stare may not see much play in competitive decks due to its limited scope and higher mana cost compared to other options.
