Venser, Shaper Savant would be a great addition to a control deck in Magic: the Gathering, as it provides instant speed disruption by bouncing a spell or permanent back to its owner's hand. While Venser is a solid card, there are potentially better options like Teferi, Time Raveler or Cryptic Command that offer more versatility and control options. However, Venser could still see play in certain metagames or as a budget alternative in decks looking for bounce effects.

If a spell is returned to its owner’s hand, it’s removed from the stack and thus will not resolve. The spell isn’t countered; it just no longer exists. This works even against a spell that can’t be countered.

If a copy of a spell is returned to its owner’s hand, it’s moved there, then it will cease to exist as a state-based action. It can’t be recast.
