Smash to Smithereens, Instant, designed by Darek Zabrocki first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 7 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Pauper.
A red aggressive deck, such as a Burn or Aggro deck, would benefit from using Smash to Smithereens in Magic: the Gathering. It provides artifact removal while also dealing damage to the opponent, helping to maintain pressure and disrupt their strategy. While there are other artifact removal cards like Abrade or Shatterstorm that may offer more versatility or impact against artifact-heavy decks, Smash to Smithereens is a solid choice for decks looking to quickly close out games with direct damage. It should definitely see play in the right deck.

Smash to Smithereens targets only the artifact, not any player. If that artifact becomes an illegal target by the time Smash to Smithereens tries to resolve, Smash to Smithereens won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen. No damage will be dealt.
