About Scatter to the Winds

Scatter to the Winds, Instant, designed by Raymond Swanland first released in Oct, 2015 in the set Battle for Zendikar Promos and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

A control deck that focuses on countering spells and generating threats through land creatures would benefit from Scatter to the Winds. While it offers versatility with its counter ability and potential for a powerful land creature with haste, other cards like Cryptic Command may provide more utility and flexibility in a control deck. Scatter to the Winds could see play in specific strategies that can take advantage of both its counter and creature aspects, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall deck composition and strategy.

Rules

08/25/15

If a spell with awaken has multiple targets (including the land you control), and some but not all of those targets become illegal by the time the spell tries to resolve, the spell won’t affect the illegal targets in any way.

08/25/15

The land will retain any other types, subtypes, or supertypes it previously had. It will also retain any mana abilities it had as a result of those subtypes. For example, a Forest that’s turned into a creature this way can still be tapped for .

08/25/15

You can cast a spell with awaken for its mana cost and get only its first effect. If you cast a spell for its awaken cost, you’ll get both effects.
