About Prismwake Merrow

Prismwake Merrow, Creature — merfolk wizard, designed by Wayne England first released in May, 2020 in the set Shadowmoor. It's a key card in 1 combos.

This card would be beneficial in a control or tempo deck that focuses on disrupting your opponent's strategy by changing the colors of their permanents at instant speed. While Prismwake Merrow offers versatility, there are potentially better options like Vedalken Shackles which can permanently steal opposing creatures or Reality Shift which exiles a creature and replaces it with a random card from its controller's library. However, Prismwake Merrow could still see play in certain metagames or strategies that require color manipulation for a specific purpose.

Rules

05/01/08

An effect that changes a permanent’s colors overwrites all its old colors unless it specifically says “in addition to its other colors.” For example, after Cerulean Wisps resolves, the affected creature will just be blue. It doesn’t matter what colors it used to be (even if, for example, it used to be blue and black).

05/01/08

Colorless is not a color.

05/01/08

This ability won’t make an artifact stop being an artifact. It’ll just be a colorful artifact.
