A deck that focuses on aggressive creature strategies or wants to control the board by removing opposing threats would benefit from including Pheres-Band Brawler. While it can be a strong removal option against smaller creatures, there are more efficient cards like Questing Beast that offer additional abilities and value for a similar mana cost. Pheres-Band Brawler could see play in certain metas or budget decks, but overall, there are better options available in most cases.

If the target creature is an illegal target when Pheres-Band Brawler’s ability tries to resolve, the ability doesn’t resolve. If Pheres-Band Brawler is no longer on the battlefield, the target creature won’t deal or be dealt damage.
