About Cleansing Beam

Cleansing Beam, Instant, designed by Pat Lee first released in Oct, 2005 in the set Ravnica: City of Guilds and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

A deck that focuses on color synergy or tribal strategies, such as a mono-red or red-white aggressive deck, would benefit from using Cleansing Beam to deal damage to multiple creatures at once. While Cleansing Beam can be effective in certain situations, there are potentially better options like Anger of the Gods or Pyroclasm that have a more immediate impact and can clear the board more efficiently. Whether Cleansing Beam should see play would depend on the specific metagame and deck strategy, but it may be worth considering as a sideboard option against creature-heavy decks.

Rules

10/01/05

All creatures that share a color are affected, even your own.

10/01/05

If it targets a colorless creature, it doesn’t affect any other creatures. A colorless creature shares a color with nothing, not even other colorless creatures.

10/01/05

Only one creature is targeted. If that creature leaves the battlefield or otherwise becomes an illegal target, the entire spell doesn’t resolve. No other creatures are affected.
