How does the movie in emojis work?
Three emojis describe today's movie, and they are the same three for everyone. You have eight guesses; each one also tells you how close you are on the year and on the genres, so a wrong guess still narrows the field.
The title is not in the page. Only the emojis are, because they are the clue. Each guess is checked on the server.
Why emojis and not a poster or a frame?
Because an emoji is a Unicode character and not the film. A poster, a still and a frame are somebody else's work, and this is a commercial site. That is the whole reason this challenge can exist while the picture-based version cannot.
Why are there only two comparison columns?
Because here the puzzle does the work. The movie of the day is the opposite game: six columns and no clue at all. Giving this one six columns as well would turn the emojis into decoration.
Does sharing my result spoil the movie?
No. The shared square carries only the colours of each guess, never the titles you tried and never the arrows. The emojis themselves are already public, so the link gives your friend the same starting point you had.
