Verdant Haven would be beneficial in a ramp or mana-fixing deck that aims to accelerate its mana production and gain life. While it can be useful in certain situations, there are more efficient cards like Fertile Ground or Utopia Sprawl that provide similar effects for a lower cost, making them better options for competitive play. However, Verdant Haven could still see play in casual or budget decks looking for additional mana ramp and life gain.

If the land targeted by Verdant Haven is an illegal target when Verdan Haven tries to resolve, Verdant Haven won’t resolve. It won’t enter the battlefield and its enters-the-battlefield ability won’t trigger.
