About Stand Up for Yourself
Stand Up for Yourself, Instant, designed by Nathaniel Himawan first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven.
“Stand Up for Yourself” would fit best in a white-based control or midrange deck—especially one that wants efficient, reactive removal against big threats, such as Azorius Control, Orzhov Midrange, or a white splash in slower Standard or Pioneer shells—because it cleanly answers larger creatures that typically serve as finishers. However, at 2W and limited to creatures with power 3 or greater, it’s somewhat inefficient compared to stronger options like *Destroy Evil* (1W, same restriction plus enchantment flexibility), *Fateful Absence* (1W, hits almost any creature or planeswalker), *Get Lost* (1W, very flexible removal), or even *Lay Down Arms* in mono-white builds; in older formats, *Path to Exile* and *Prismatic Ending* are far superior. Because cheaper and more flexible removal exists, this card would likely only see play in lower-power formats or budget builds, and would not be a staple in competitive environments.
