A mono-black control deck would benefit from Liliana of the Dark Realms due to its ability to tutor for Swamps, ramp up mana production with the emblem, and provide removal with the -3 ability. However, there are more efficient planeswalkers available in the current Magic: The Gathering meta, such as Liliana, the Last Hope, which offers better utility and versatility. Liliana of the Dark Realms may not see much play in competitive settings, but can still be a fun and flavorful inclusion in casual decks.

Liliana’s emblem doesn’t remove any other abilities of Swamps you control.

You can activate Liliana’s first ability even if your library contains no Swamp cards (or you don’t want to find one). You’ll still search your library and shuffle it.
