About Inspiring Statuary

Inspiring Statuary, Artifact, designed by Kirsten Zirngibl first released in Jan, 2017 in the set Aether Revolt Promos and was printed exactly in 11 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

Inspiring Statuary would be a great addition to an artifact-heavy deck in Magic: the Gathering, especially one that focuses on casting nonartifact spells. Decks that rely on a mix of artifacts and nonartifact spells would benefit the most from this card, as it allows for more flexibility in mana usage. While there may be better cards for specific strategies, Inspiring Statuary can definitely see play in the right deck, providing a unique and versatile way to cast spells.

Because improvise isn’t an alternative cost, it can be used in conjunction with alternative costs.

02/09/17

Improvise can’t be used to pay for anything other than the cost of casting the spell. For example, it can’t be used during the resolution of an ability that says “Counter target spell unless its controller pays .”

02/09/17

Improvise doesn’t change a spell’s mana cost or converted mana cost.

02/09/17

Multiple instances of improvise are redundant.

02/09/17

Tapping an artifact won’t cause its abilities to stop applying unless those abilities say so.

02/09/17

When using improvise to cast a spell with in its mana cost, first choose the value for X. That choice, plus any cost increases or decreases, will determine the spell’s total cost. Then you can tap artifacts you control to help pay that cost. For example, if you cast Whir of Invention (a spell with improvise and mana cost ) and choose X to be 3, the total cost is . If you tap two artifacts, you’ll have to pay .
