About Eclipsed Steppe

Eclipsed Steppe, Land — plains swamp, designed by Leon Tukker first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven Commander.

Eclipsed Steppe fits best in two‑color white‑black (Orzhov) decks that are slower and more midrange or control‑oriented, especially in Standard or budget formats where mana consistency matters but premium lands may be limited; it’s particularly solid in decks that reliably play multiple basic lands early (such as midrange, control, or slower sacrifice strategies), since it will often enter untapped from turn three onward. However, it’s generally weaker than lands like **Godless Shrine**, **Concealed Courtyard**, **Caves of Koilos**, **Shattered Sanctum–style fast/slow lands (if available in WB colors)**, or **Marsh Flats** in older formats, because those either enter untapped more consistently or provide stronger fixing with fewer conditions. Compared to other “check” or “fast” dual lands, Eclipsed Steppe is playable but not optimal in highly competitive formats; it’s most likely to see play in Standard, Pioneer budget builds, or casual Commander decks that want reliable fixing without
