Destructive Tampering can be beneficial in a red aggressive deck that aims to quickly eliminate key artifacts or bypass blockers to deal direct damage. However, there are more versatile cards like Smash to Smithereens or Abrade that offer similar artifact removal with added flexibility, making them potentially better choices for most decks. Destructive Tampering may see situational play in specific metagames or strategies that heavily rely on artifact removal or evasion effects.

Because the effect of Destructive Tampering’s second mode doesn’t change the characteristics of any permanents, the set of creatures affected by it is constantly updated. Creatures without flying that enter the battlefield later in the turn won’t be able to block.
