Consuming Vortex, Instant — arcane, designed by Pete Venters first released in May, 2020 in the set Champions of Kamigawa.
This card, Consuming Vortex, would benefit a control deck looking to maintain board control and tempo by repeatedly returning threatening creatures to their owner's hand. While Consuming Vortex is a useful tool for disrupting the opponent's strategy, there are potentially better options like Cryptic Command or Into the Roil that offer more versatility and impact for a similar cost, making it less likely for Consuming Vortex to see play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.

You choose all targets for the spell after revealing cards you want to splice, including any targets required by the text of any of those cards. You may choose a different target for each instance of the word “target” on the resulting spell.

You reveal all cards you intend to splice at the same time. Each individual card can be spliced only once onto any one spell.
