Utrom Monitor would fit best in an artifact-heavy deck—particularly blue-based Affinity or artifact synergy builds (such as Modern Affinity, Hardened Scales variants, or Commander artifact shells like Urza or Sai), where its Affinity for artifacts can dramatically reduce its 5-mana cost and make it an efficient evasive threat; however, as a generic flying body with no additional payoff, it would likely be outclassed by stronger options like **Thought Monitor** (which also has affinity for artifacts but draws two cards on ETB), **Frogmite** or **Myr Enforcer** (which are cheaper and more efficient in aggressive Affinity lists), or even **Sojourner’s Companion** in Pauper, all of which provide either better stats for cost or immediate value, so unless Utrom Monitor has unusually strong power/toughness or synergy beyond flying, it would probably not see competitive play and would be more suitable for casual or thematic artifact decks.
