About Transcendence

Transcendence, Enchantment, designed by Rebecca Guay first released in Feb, 2002 in the set Torment. It's a key card in 6 combos.

A control deck that aims to prolong the game by stalling and preventing the opponent from dealing lethal damage would benefit from using Transcendence, as it provides a safety net against losing the game from life loss while offering a unique life gain mechanic. However, the card's high mana cost and potential downside of losing the game at 20 or more life may limit its effectiveness in competitive play compared to alternative options like Angel's Grace or Phyrexian Unlife which offer similar life-saving effects with less restrictive conditions, making it less likely to see consistent play in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats.

Rules

10/04/04

If your life total is 20 or more and you control an effect that states “you can’t lose the game”, then an infinite loop is formed. If neither player wants to end the loop by removing one of these two cards from the battlefield, the game ends in a draw.
