While Thorn Lieutenant can generate additional tokens when targeted by opponents, there are potentially better cards for a similar mana cost that offer more immediate impact or synergies with other cards in the deck, such as Steel Leaf Champion or Pelt Collector. However, Thorn Lieutenant could still see play in decks looking to go wide and apply pressure early in the game.
