About Opal Gargoyle

Opal Gargoyle, Enchantment, designed by Kev Walker first released in Oct, 1998 in the set Urza's Saga.

A deck that focuses on controlling the opponent's creatures and disrupting their game plan would benefit from including Opal Gargoyle, as it can surprise the opponent with a flying 2/2 creature when they cast a creature spell. While Opal Gargoyle has its niche uses, there are likely better options available in terms of efficiency and power level, such as cards that provide consistent value or immediate impact on the board. Overall, Opal Gargoyle may not see widespread play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.

Rules

08/01/08

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.

10/04/04

It triggers when the spell is cast, which means it becomes a creature before that spell resolves.

10/04/04

When it turns into a creature, it is no longer an enchantment.
