About Illusionary Servant

Illusionary Servant, Creature — illusion, designed by Dave Kendall first released in Jul, 2009 in the set Magic 2010.

Illusionary Servant could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on tempo and disruption, as it provides a flying threat that can pressure opponents while also potentially acting as a deterrent for targeted spells or abilities. However, there are better options like Spellstutter Sprite, which not only has a similar mana cost and flying ability but also counters a spell with converted mana cost equal to the number of Faeries you control when it enters the battlefield. Whether Illusionary Servant should see play would depend on the specific strategy of the deck and how well it synergizes with other cards in the deck.

Rules

10/01/09

If Illusionary Servant becomes the target of a spell or ability, Illusionary Servant’s ability triggers and is put on the stack on top of that spell or ability. Illusionary Servant’s ability will resolve (causing it to be sacrificed) first. Unless the spell or ability has another target, it will then be countered when it tries to resolve for having no legal targets.
