About Glistening Oil

Glistening Oil, Enchantment — aura, designed by Steven Belledin first released in May, 2020 in the set New Phyrexia.

This card, Glistening Oil, would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on utilizing infect as a win condition, as it provides a consistent way to give a creature infect and can be recurred from the graveyard. However, in competitive play, there are likely better options such as Grafted Exoskeleton or Phyresis, which offer similar effects without the downside of putting -1/-1 counters on the enchanted creature. Overall, Glistening Oil may not see much play in highly optimized decks due to its drawbacks compared to other infect enablers.

Rules

06/01/11

Multiple instances of infect are redundant.

06/01/11

You choose a target creature for Glistening Oil as you cast it, just as you would with any Aura. If that creature is an illegal target when Glistening Oil tries to resolve, Glistening Oil won’t resolve and will be put into its owner’s graveyard. It won’t enter the battlefield and its last ability won’t trigger.
