Misdirection, Instant, designed by Paolo Parente first released in May, 2020 in the set Mercadian Masques and was printed exactly in 7 different ways.
A control deck in Magic: the Gathering would benefit from including Misdirection in its strategy, as it provides a versatile and unexpected way to disrupt an opponent's spell targeting. While Misdirection can be a powerful tool in certain situations, there are potentially better options available such as Force of Will, which offers a more flexible and unconditional way to counter spells. Whether Misdirection should see play ultimately depends on the specific deck's playstyle and the current metagame.

Once the spell resolves, the new target is considered to be targeted by the deflected spell. This will trigger any effects which trigger on being targeted.

You can choose to make a spell on the stack target this spell (if such a target choice would be legal had the spell been cast while this spell was on the stack). The new target for the deflected spell is not chosen until this spell resolves. This spell is still on the stack when new targets are selected for the spell.
