Kaitlyn Dever

Kaitlyn Dever is an American actor born in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 21, 1996. She began acting after her family moved to Los Angeles, following earlier years in Dallas, Texas. One of her earliest recurring television roles was Gwen Thompson on the FX drama Justified. From 2011 through 2015, she played Loretta McCready, a sharp and resourceful Kentucky teenager whose connection with U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens became an important continuing thread in the series. She was also widely recognized as Eve Baxter, the youngest daughter in the sitcom Last Man Standing. Dever appeared in the show from its 2011 debut through its later seasons, portraying a politically conservative, athletic daughter in the Baxter household. Her work in both a western crime drama and a network family comedy demonstrated an unusual range early in her career. In film, Dever played Amy Antsler in Olivia Wilde’s 2019 directorial debut Booksmart. Amy is a studious high-school senior who, on the night before graduation, realizes she and her best friend Molly may have missed much of the social life they dismissed. The comedy paired Dever with Beanie Feldstein and earned strong critical attention. Earlier, she appeared in Destin Daniel Cretton’s Short Term 12, Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit, and Felix van Groeningen’s Beautiful Boy, in which she played Lauren, the sister of a young man struggling with addiction. Dever received particular acclaim for Netflix’s 2019 limited series Unbelievable. She played Marie Adler, a Washington teenager who reports being raped, then faces pressure after detectives doubt her account. The series was based on the ProPublica and Marshall Project reporting that investigated a sequence of sexual assaults and failures in the initial investigation. Dever earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Television Film for the performance. In Hulu’s Dopesick, released in 2021, she portrayed Betsy Mallum, a young coal miner from Virginia who becomes dependent on OxyContin. The drama examines Purdue Pharma’s marketing of the opioid and the wider opioid crisis. Her performance brought nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. More recently, Dever starred as Brynn Adams in the 2023 science-fiction thriller No One Will Save You, a film with very little dialogue. In 2025, she played Belle Gibson in the Netflix limited series Apple Cider Vinegar, dramatizing the Australian wellness influencer’s fraudulent cancer claims. She was also cast as Abby for the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us.
