Rosé

Rosé, born Roseanne Park on February 11, 1997, is a singer and songwriter whose career connects New Zealand, Australia, and South Korea. She was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and grew up in Melbourne, Australia. In 2012, at age fifteen, she auditioned for YG Entertainment in Sydney and placed first among the applicants. She subsequently moved to South Korea, trained for approximately four years, and became the final member selected for YG’s new girl group, BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One. Its two tracks, “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” introduced Rosé’s distinctive vocal tone within a group that soon became one of K-pop’s most internationally recognized acts. She contributed vocals to BLACKPINK releases including “Playing with Fire,” “As If It’s Your Last,” “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” “Kill This Love,” “Lovesick Girls,” and “Pink Venom.” The group’s first studio album, The Album, arrived in 2020 and included collaborations with Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Cardi B.

Rosé began her solo career with the single album R, released on March 12, 2021. Its lead single, “On the Ground,” was written with Amy Allen, Jon Bellion, Jorgen Odegard, and Raul Cubina. The song reached number one on Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, making Rosé the first Korean soloist to top both lists. R also included “Gone,” a song she had performed earlier for fans. “On the Ground” received a Guinness World Records recognition as the first music video by a Korean solo artist to reach number one on YouTube’s worldwide trending chart.

In 2024, Rosé signed a global management agreement with The Black Label for her solo activities and entered a partnership with Atlantic Records. She released “Apt.” on October 18, 2024, a collaboration with Bruno Mars. Named after the Korean pronunciation of “apartment,” the song became a major international hit and led her full-length solo album, Rosie, released on December 6, 2024. Rosie contains twelve tracks, including “Number One Girl,” “3am,” “Toxic Till the End,” and “Two Years.” The album presents Rosé as a songwriter focused on romance, separation, and personal vulnerability, extending the intimate direction established by “Gone” while marking her transition from group member to independent recording artist.
