Jisoo

Jisoo, born Kim Ji-soo on January 3, 1995, in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, is a South Korean singer and actress best known as a member of BLACKPINK. She joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2011 and trained for approximately five years before debuting with the group on August 8, 2016. BLACKPINK’s debut single album, Square One, introduced “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” both of which established the group’s distinctive pop, hip-hop, and electronic sound.

As BLACKPINK’s oldest member, Jisoo contributes vocals and is frequently associated with the group’s visual identity. Her work with the group includes the Korean studio albums The Album, released in 2020, and Born Pink, released in 2022. The Album featured collaborations with Selena Gomez on “Ice Cream” and Cardi B on “Bet You Wanna,” while Born Pink produced the singles “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down.” BLACKPINK’s global tours, including the Born Pink World Tour, made Jisoo part of one of the most internationally successful Korean pop groups.

Jisoo began her solo recording career with the single album Me, released on March 31, 2023. Its lead single, “Flower,” combines an understated, melodic chorus with a traditional Korean-inspired visual concept and became a major international hit. The song reached number two on South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart and entered charts in numerous countries. Me sold more than one million copies, making Jisoo the first female Korean soloist to achieve that milestone, according to widely reported music-industry records. “All Eyes on Me,” the album’s second track, completed the two-song release.

Before her solo debut, Jisoo developed an acting profile through television and advertising work. She appeared in the 2015 drama Producers and had a cameo in the 2016 series Arthdal Chronicles. Her first leading role was in Snowdrop, which premiered in December 2021. She played Eun Young-ro opposite Jung Hae-in in the historical romance drama, and the series marked a significant expansion of her career beyond music.

In 2024, Jisoo established the agency BLISSOO for her individual activities while continuing group activities under YG Entertainment’s arrangement for BLACKPINK. Her career therefore spans group performance, solo pop, acting, fashion, and international brand partnerships. The combination of “Flower,” BLACKPINK’s landmark releases, and Snowdrop defines Jisoo’s documented development from long-term trainee to an artist with distinct solo recognition.
