Onslaught is an upcoming feature film directed by Adam Wingard and written by Wingard with Simon Barrett. It is a new production, not a remake or continuation of an older film using the same title. Wingard and Barrett have repeatedly collaborated: their earlier credits together include You’re Next, The Guest, Blair Witch, and Godzilla vs. Kong. Their reunion is therefore one of the specific creative facts publicly associated with Onslaught.
A24 acquired the project, and Adria Arjona was announced as its lead. Arjona’s announced casting made her the first performer connected to the production in a leading capacity when news of the deal emerged. Subsequent casting announcements added Dan Stevens, Michael Biehn, Drew Starkey, and Eric Wareheim to Onslaught. Stevens previously appeared in Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong, while Biehn is known for films including The Terminator and Aliens. These announced names identify the film’s principal on-screen team without requiring speculation about characters or story turns.
Public descriptions have kept the narrative relatively guarded. Trade reporting has identified Onslaught as an action thriller and has said that it follows a mother who must protect her family after a mysterious threat emerges. No comprehensive official plot breakdown, character list, or ending has been widely released in those announcements. Accordingly, the confirmed premise is best treated as a starting point rather than evidence for unannounced monsters, locations, or plot mechanics.
Onslaught was produced after Wingard returned from the studio monster-film cycle that included Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The latter was directed by Wingard, though Barrett was not credited as its screenwriter. Onslaught consequently marks a smaller-scale reunion of the Wingard-Barrett partnership within an A24-backed release. Its announced release date is October 1, 2026, placing it among forthcoming releases rather than completed catalogue titles.
Available announcements have emphasized the people making the film more than a scene-by-scene account. That distinction matters for Onslaught: the verified record currently supports its title, 2026 scheduling, A24 involvement, Wingard-Barrett authorship, Arjona’s lead casting, and the additional cast named in trade coverage. It does not support invented claims about the threat’s nature, the family’s identities, or any relationship to Wingard’s earlier franchises. Until the filmmakers or distributor publish more material, those details remain undisclosed.
The film’s reported setup nevertheless makes clear that Arjona’s mother character is the dramatic center of this announced action-oriented story. No public announcement has assigned her a character name yet.
