Falin Touden

Falin Touden is the younger sister of Laios Touden and a central character in Ryoko Kui's manga Delicious in Dungeon. She is a gifted magic user whose practical specialty is healing, but her education also includes necromancy and teleportation magic. At magic school, she became friends with Marcille, who later joined the search for her during their first expedition together. Falin's calm manner contrasts with the dangerous techniques she can perform when desperate circumstances demand extraordinary magical intervention from her. Her first crisis occurs after Laios's party reaches the Red Dragon, which has been eating adventurers and blocking their route.

Falin uses a teleportation spell to send her companions away, remaining behind while the dragon's attack destroys the party's position. The spell saves Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Senshi, but Falin is killed before she can escape the dungeon herself alive. Her death motivates the surviving party to turn back, recover her body, and attempt resurrection despite food, time, and money. Marcille performs the resurrection using Red Dragon flesh, because dungeon monsters provide the party's only dependable source of nourishment there. Falin returns to life, yet the resurrection has consequences: the dragon's connection to her makes her vulnerable to dungeon magic.

As the story progresses, Falin becomes fused with the Red Dragon and transformed into a monstrous guardian within the dungeon. This form is not a physical change; it reflects the dungeon's ability to reshape living bodies through ancient, powerful magic. Laios and Marcille refuse to treat the transformed Falin as an enemy, even when her attacks threaten everyone around them. Marcille's knowledge of Falin's magic, and Laios's determination as her brother, make reaching her possible despite the dungeon's corruption itself. Falin's recovery is tied to the conflict involving the Canaries, the Golden Country, the Winged Lion, and the dungeon's ruler.

Falin's arc therefore connects intimate family loyalty with the manga's central question: whether magical power can be separated from responsibility. Although she is often gentle and absent-minded, she is not helpless; her decisions repeatedly determine who survives dangerous encounters there. Her teleportation spell saves the expedition, while her resurrection changes its goals from escaping the dungeon to rescuing her alive.
