Go Kyung-pyo

Go Kyung-pyo, born June 11, 1990, is a South Korean actor known for television comedy, romance, crime, and ensemble drama. He entered entertainment through tvN’s Saturday Night Live Korea, joining its cast in 2011. The sketch series gave him exposure before he accumulated supporting parts in dramas. In 2012, he appeared in Standby, an MBC sitcom set around a television production company, before joining tvN’s Flower Boy Next Door in 2013. His role as Sung Sun-woo in tvN’s 2015 drama Reply 1988 brought him wider recognition. The series, set in Seoul’s Ssangmun neighborhood during the late 1980s, follows five families and their children. Sun-woo, an eldest son and friend of the young men at its center, added comic energy to the ensemble. In 2016, he played Go Jung-won, a chaebol heir and television announcer, in SBS romantic comedy Jealousy Incarnate. In 2017, he led tvN’s Chicago Typewriter as Yoo Jin-oh, a mysterious ghost writer connected to Korea’s Japanese colonial era. The fantasy drama links three present-day characters to their former lives as resistance fighters in the 1930s. Go then carried his first major terrestrial drama lead in Strongest Deliveryman, a 2017 KBS2 series about young food delivery workers. He portrayed Choi Kang-soo, a delivery worker whose rivalry with a wealthy restaurant heir becomes a friendship. In 2019’s romantic comedy My Fellow Citizens!, he played Yang Jung-kook, a con man who unexpectedly becomes a National Assembly member. The KBS2 series mixes electoral satire with the character’s attempts to conceal his criminal past from voters and his police officer wife. His film work includes 2015’s The Treacherous, 2018’s Seven Years of Night, and 2022’s 6/45, a comedy about a winning lottery ticket crossing the inter-Korean border. In 6/45, he plays a South Korean sergeant who finds the ticket before it ends up in North Korean hands. He also appeared in 2022 film Seoul Vibe, a Netflix action comedy set around a 1988 investigation into a slush fund. For television, he reunited with director Shin Won-ho in Hospital Playlist, playing cardiothoracic surgeon Kim Jun-wan from 2020 through 2021. The drama follows five doctors whose friendship began in medical school, and its band scenes feature Jun-wan on guitar. In Connect, a 2022 Disney+ thriller directed by Takashi Miike, Go portrayed Ha Dong-soo, a man whose body can regenerate after organ traffickers take one of his eyes. He then sees through the recipient’s eye.
