Ironheart

Ironheart is a six-episode Marvel Television miniseries made for Disney+ and centered on Riri Williams, the young inventor introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). Dominique Thorne reprises Riri after playing her in that film, where the MIT student built an improvised armored suit from scavenged Wakandan materials and helped Shuri confront Namor and Talokan forces. The series begins after those events, with Riri back in Chicago and determined to create a suit. Her pursuit of money, materials, and opportunities pulls her into a conflict that sets engineering against dangerous supernatural power in her hometown.

Chinaka Hodge created the show and served as head writer. Its principal directors are Sam Bailey, who directed the first three episodes, and Angela Barnes, who directed the final three. Ryan Coogler, whose company Proximity Media joined Marvel Studios in producing the series, is an executive producer. The cast includes Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins, also known as the Hood; Lyric Ross as Riri’s friend Natalie Washington; Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy; and Anji White as Ronnie Williams, Riri’s mother. Regan Aliyah plays Zelma Stanton, while Manny Montana plays John, a member of Parker’s crew. Matthew Elam appears as Xavier.

The Hood is not merely an original television antagonist: he comes from Marvel Comics, where Parker Robbins acquired a mystically empowered cloak and boots. Ironheart uses that comic book foundation to make the central clash specifically about technology and magic. Riri is not portrayed as a finished superhero with limitless resources. Instead, she works through the consequences of her choices and seeks a route to build armor on her own terms. Her story returns to her Chicago community rather than placing her beside Avengers. The series was announced by Marvel Studios in December 2020 as part of its Disney+ slate.

Ironheart premiered on Disney+ in America on June 24, 2025, with its first three episodes released together. The remaining three episodes arrived on July 1, completing the series as a two-week event. The production connects to the aftermath of Wakanda Forever, but its plot concentrates on Riri’s life after returning from Wakanda. Thorne had signed on to play Riri before her feature-film debut, making Ironheart a continuation of her MCU role rather than a recasting. The character was created for Marvel Comics by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato, first appearing in comic Invincible Iron Man #7 (2016).
