Avatar: Seven Havens is an animated television series from Avatar Studios, the Nickelodeon division created to make new projects in the Avatar universe. Nickelodeon announced the show in February 2025 as a sequel set after The Legend of Korra. Its title identifies the Seven Havens, described in the official premise as the last remaining strongholds of civilization. The series is not a retelling of Aang or Korra’s story: it follows the next Avatar, in an era shaped by a devastating cataclysm. At announcement, Nickelodeon said the production would comprise twenty-six half-hour episodes, divided into two seasons.
The central conflict deliberately reverses the Avatar’s usual public role. According to the released description, this young Earthbender is viewed not as humanity’s savior, but as its destroyer. Human and spirit adversaries pursue her. Her essential ally is her long-lost twin sister, and the pair must investigate their mysterious origins while trying to protect the Seven Havens before those refuges collapse. The premise therefore links the new Avatar’s identity to a family mystery and to a world whose survivors distrust the figure traditionally expected to restore balance. No character names for the twins were included in the initial announcement.
Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the original franchise’s co-creators, are attached as creators and executive producers of Avatar: Seven Havens. The announcement also identified them as co-showrunners. Their involvement connects the program directly to the creative team behind Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, rather than merely using the setting under a separate production team. Avatar Studios, formed by Nickelodeon in 2021, is producing the series. The studio’s broader plans have included animated projects for theatrical and television release, but Seven Havens has its own stated narrative position: it is the continuation following Korra, not the previously announced Aang-centered feature film.
At the time of its public unveiling, the announced material established the format, creative leadership, setting, and storyline, but did not provide a release date, voice cast, trailer, or episode titles. The official account has named an Earthbender Avatar and her twin sister, yet has not publicly supplied their names or detailed the cataclysm. What is confirmed is the scale of the mission. The sisters face enemies from the human and spirit worlds and race to save the Seven Havens, shelters of a damaged civilization. That combination makes survival, suspicion of the Avatar, and the twins’ origin the show’s dramatic foundation.
