Austin Abrams

Austin Abrams is an American actor born on September 2, 1996, in Sarasota, Florida. He grew up in a family of physicians: his parents, Lori and Bradley Abrams, are doctors. That background is a documented detail about his upbringing, but his career developed through acting rather than medicine.

His screen career began with television appearances before he moved into feature films. One early credit was The Kings of Summer, Jordan Vogt-Roberts's 2013 coming-of-age comedy. Abrams played Aaron, one of the teenagers involved in the story of three friends who leave home and build a house in the woods. The film starred Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, and Moises Arias, and gave Abrams an early opportunity to work in an ensemble centered on adolescent friendship and independence.

Abrams later appeared in Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some!!, a 2016 college baseball comedy set in 1980. He played freshman pitcher Chad, joining a large cast that included Blake Jenner, Zoey Deutch, and Glen Powell. In Mike White's Brad's Status (2017), he portrayed Troy, the son of Ben Stiller's character, Brad Sloan. The film examines Brad's anxious comparison of his life with the apparent success of former classmates, while Abrams's performance contributes to its family conflict.

On television, Abrams became especially recognizable as Ron Anderson on AMC's The Walking Dead. He joined the series during its fifth season and remained through the sixth. Ron is the son of Jessie Anderson and lives inside the Alexandria Safe-Zone. His fear, resentment, and rivalry with Carl Grimes become important to the Alexandria storyline, particularly after Rick Grimes assumes greater authority. The role placed Abrams in a major ensemble drama while requiring him to play a character shaped by a post-apocalyptic society.

In 2019, he played Tommy Milner in André Øvredal's horror film Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, an adaptation of Alvin Schwartz's book series. Tommy is a bully whose actions help set the film's supernatural events in motion. Abrams then starred opposite Lili Reinhart in Chemical Hearts (2020), playing Henry Page, a high-school student who develops a relationship with Grace Town. The film was based on Krystal Sutherland's novel Our Chemical Hearts. That same year, Abrams led Netflix's limited series Dash & Lily as Dash, a New York teenager who exchanges challenges and messages with Lily through a red notebook during the Christmas season.

In 2022, Abrams played Max Broussard in Netflix's dark comedy Do Revenge.
