Tragedy can be particularly effective in control or stun decks that aim to manipulate the battle positions of your opponent's monsters, such as those utilizing cards like Book of Moon or Enemy Controller to switch their monsters to Defense Position. Decks that focus on swarming the field with low-attack monsters, like certain variants of Altergeist or Subterror, could also benefit from Tragedy's board-clearing effect. However, there are arguably better options, such as Raigeki or Dark Hole, which can clear the entire field regardless of monster position, making them more versatile. While Tragedy can see play in niche strategies, its effectiveness may be limited compared to these more powerful board wipe cards.
