A control or cycling deck in Magic: the Gathering would benefit from using Sacred Excavation, as it allows for card advantage and recursion of key cycling cards. While Sacred Excavation is a decent option for these decks, a better alternative may be the card Relearn which has a lower mana cost and can target any instant or sorcery card in the graveyard. Sacred Excavation could see play in specific cycling-focused decks, but its effectiveness may depend on the overall strategy and card choices within the deck.

Certain older cards have variants of cycling, such as basic landcycling or Wizardcycling. Sacred Excavation can target these cards in your graveyard.
