Kozilek's Translator fits well in a colorless or mono-black deck that focuses on generating colorless mana and utilizing life as a resource, such as in a sacrifice or control strategy. While there are other cards that can generate colorless mana, such as Sol Ring or Ancient Tomb, Kozilek's Translator offers the unique benefit of being a creature that can also be sacrificed for value.
