Jack Quaid

Jack Quaid was born on April 24, 1992, in Los Angeles, California, to actors Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid. He made his feature-film debut as Marvel, the wealthy District 1 tribute who befriends Katniss Everdeen, in Gary Ross’s 2012 adaptation of The Hunger Games. Marvel gives Katniss his tracker jacker antidote after she is stung in the arena, then is killed by Cato. Quaid later appeared in The First Time, Just Before I Go, and Logan Lucky. On HBO’s Vinyl, he played Clark Morelle, a member of the fictional band Nasty Bits. Those early credits established his screen career beyond family. Quaid became widely known for playing Hughie Campbell in Amazon’s superhero satire The Boys, which premiered in 2019. Hughie is drawn into Billy Butcher’s campaign against superpowered celebrities after A-Train kills Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin Ward, while racing through her. Across the series, Hughie works with Butcher, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko while confronting Vought International and Homelander. Quaid has remained a principal cast member through the show’s later seasons. In 2022, he played Richie Kirsch in Scream, the fifth film in the franchise. Richie is revealed as one of the Ghostface killers, acting with Amber Freeman to target Sam Carpenter. His voice work includes Brad Boimler, the anxious, rule-following Starfleet ensign at the center of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The animated comedy debuted in 2020, and Boimler’s friendship and professional rivalry with Beckett Mariner drives much of its early story. Quaid also voiced Ensign Boimler in the live-action Star Trek: Strange New Worlds crossover episode “Those Old Scientists,” appearing opposite Tawny Newsome as Mariner. In 2023, Quaid portrayed physicist Richard Feynman in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The film follows J. Robert Oppenheimer and the development of the atomic bomb; Feynman appears among the Los Alamos scientists. Quaid attended NYU’s Tisch School. Outside those franchises, Quaid co-starred with Maya Erskine in the 2019 romantic comedy Plus One. He played Ben, who agrees to accompany Alice to a succession of weddings as her platonic “plus one.” In Tragedy Girls, a 2017 horror comedy, he played Jordan Welch, a high-school student who becomes entangled with the film’s aspiring serial-killer protagonists. Quaid was cast as Nathan Caine in Novocaine, the 2025 action comedy directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. The story follows Caine, a bank employee with a rare condition that prevents him from feeling physical pain. Quaid appeared in the 2025 thriller Companion.
