While there are stronger options like Hymn to Tourach, which can discard two random cards without giving the opponent a choice, Nightsnare still has its merits and can see play in specific builds focused on hand disruption, especially in casual or midrange formats.

If you don’t choose a nonland card for the player to discard, that player chooses which two cards they will discard.
