A deck that focuses on quickly filling the graveyard with instant and sorcery cards would benefit from using Fiery Impulse, as it can potentially deal 3 damage for just R. However, in a competitive setting, there are more efficient burn spells like Lightning Bolt or Lava Spike that may be better choices due to their consistent damage output regardless of graveyard conditions. While Fiery Impulse can be a strong situational card, it may not see as much play in highly optimized decks.

Check to see if there are two or more instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard as the spell resolves to determine whether the spell mastery ability applies. The spell itself won’t count because it’s still on the stack as you make this check.
