Faith's Fetters can be beneficial in control decks looking to gain life and neutralize key threats by preventing them from attacking or using their abilities. While it is a solid choice for its versatility, other enchantments like Detention Sphere or Oblivion Ring may offer more flexibility in dealing with multiple threats. However, Faith's Fetters can still see play in decks that value its life gain and ability to lock down problematic permanents.

Faith’s Fetters doesn’t stop static abilities, triggered abilities, or mana abilities from working. A mana ability is an ability that produces mana, not an ability that costs mana.

If the target permanent is an illegal target by the time Faith’s Fetters tries to resolve, it doesn’t resolve. It won’t enter the battlefield, so its enters-the-battlefield ability won’t trigger.
