It adapts Shobonnu’s light-novel series, illustrated by Sogawa, rather than telling an original anime story. The franchise began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro before Futabasha published it under its Monster Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation, drawn by Aki Taruto, also preceded the television version. The protagonist is Al Wayne, a young man whose ambition is not adventuring or political power but becoming the finest farmer he can be. He repeatedly raises the skills associated with farm work, including cultivating crops. When he finally maximizes those abilities, his overall status changes in a way that leaves him extraordinarily powerful in combat. The premise’s joke and engine are therefore inseparable: Al wants a quiet agricultural life, yet the strength gained through agriculture repeatedly pulls him into dangerous incidents. Fal-Ys, Al’s childhood friend and a royal princess, is central to the early story. She knows that Al’s capabilities far exceed what his farmer’s appearance suggests, and her connection to the royal family helps bring the rural protagonist into broader threats. The series places its fantasy setting alongside specific farming routines: Al cares about fields, harvests, and the quality of produce even when monsters or conspiracies interrupt his work. That contrast distinguishes the show from a conventional hero-training fantasy; its lead does not take up farming after becoming powerful, but becomes powerful because he has pursued farming. The anime was produced by Studio A-CAT and aired for twelve episodes from October 1 to December 17, 2022. Norihiko Nagahama directed the series, while Touko Machida handled series composition. Masami Sueoka designed the characters for animation, and Takurou Iga composed the music. Its Japanese opening theme, “Growing up,” was performed by 7ORDER; Pop Shinanaide performed the ending theme, “Rolling Soul Happy Days.” These credits identify a compact seasonal adaptation whose presentation paired comic fantasy escalation with Al’s steadfast desire to remain a farmer. Rather than treating its title as a vague metaphor, the program makes Al’s agricultural skill levels the explicit cause of his unusual physical power. That rule lets episodes move between cultivation, village life, royal affairs, and battles, while preserving the character’s plainly stated goal: raising better crops and living as a farmer despite the fame and risks his strength creates around him each day.
