Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is a Japanese television anime adapted from Hajime Isayama’s manga, set in a world where humanity survives behind three enormous concentric walls after man-eating Titans drove people to the brink of extinction. The series begins when the Colossus Titan breaches Wall Maria in the district of Shiganshina, allowing Titans to enter and destroying protagonist Eren Yeager’s home. Eren witnesses his mother, Carla, killed by a Titan, then vows to exterminate every Titan. He joins the 104th Training Corps alongside adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and childhood friend Armin Arlert. Their cohort includes Jean Kirstein, Sasha Blouse, Connie Springer, Historia Reiss, Reiner Braun, Bertholdt Hoover, Annie Leonhart, and Ymir. Following the battle for Trost District, Eren reveals that he can transform into the Attack Titan, making him both a military asset and an object of suspicion. Later, the story identifies intelligent Titans among the soldiers: Annie is the Female Titan, while Reiner and Bertholdt are the Armored and Colossus Titans. The Survey Corps, led by Commander Erwin Smith and including Captain Levi Ackerman and Hange Zoë, ventures beyond the walls and uncovers evidence that the monarchy has concealed crucial history. Historia ultimately becomes queen after Rod Reiss’s defeat. The anime’s first season aired in 2013, produced by Wit Studio. Wit also produced seasons two and three, which adapted material through the return to Shiganshina and the basement revelation. The fourth and final season moved to MAPPA, beginning in 2020. Its concluding installments were released as The Final Chapters, with the last episode airing in Japan on November 4, 2023. The plot expands beyond the island of Paradis when Eren and his friends learn that their people, the Subjects of Ymir, are Eldians and that Marley has oppressed them while using Titan power in warfare. Reiner and the other Warriors originate from Marley, not from a mysterious Titan realm. Eren later infiltrates Liberio and attacks Marley’s military leadership during a festival. Attack on Titan is known for its shifting perspective on enemies, inherited violence, propaganda, and freedom. Its central mysteries include the origin of Titans, the Founding Titan, and the memories transmitted through Titan inheritors. The series ends with the conflict between Eren and his former comrades reaching a global scale, as Eren unleashes the Rumbling, an advance of colossal Wall Titans. The anime’s music includes scores by Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto, and its opening themes became internationally recognizable to viewers.
