Emma Corrin

Emma Corrin is an English actor best known for portraying Diana, Princess of Wales, in the fourth season of Netflix’s historical drama *The Crown*. Born on 1 December 1995 in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, Corrin studied drama at the University of Bristol before graduating from St John’s College, Cambridge, where they studied education, English, drama, and the arts. During their time at Cambridge, Corrin appeared in student theatre productions and developed an interest in performance. Corrin’s breakthrough arrived with *The Crown* in 2020. Their portrayal followed Diana from her early relationship with Prince Charles through the birth of her sons, her growing public profile, and the collapse of the royal marriage. The performance required Corrin to recreate familiar public moments, including Diana’s engagement interview, the 1981 wedding, and her appearances at royal events, while also presenting a dramatized private perspective on the character. For the role, Corrin won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama and received nominations from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Before *The Crown*, Corrin appeared as Esme Winikus in the television series *Pennyworth*, a drama set in the DC Comics-inspired world surrounding Batman’s future butler, Alfred Pennyworth. They also played Jillian Jessup in the 2019 film *Misbehaviour*, which dramatizes the disruption of the 1970 Miss World competition by women’s liberation activists. After leaving *The Crown*, Corrin took on several markedly different roles. In the 2022 romantic drama *My Policeman*, adapted from Bethan Roberts’s novel, Corrin played Marion Taylor, a schoolteacher whose marriage to policeman Tom Burgess is complicated by Tom’s relationship with museum curator Patrick Hazlewood. The film also stars Harry Styles and David Dawson. Corrin then played Constance Reid in Netflix’s 2022 adaptation of D. H. Lawrence’s *Lady Chatterley’s Lover*, opposite Jack O’Connell as gamekeeper Oliver Mellors. In 2023, Corrin starred in FX’s mystery miniseries *A Murder at the End of the World* as Darby Hart, a young amateur detective and true-crime writer invited to a remote retreat hosted by a technology billionaire. Created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the series placed Corrin at the centre of a contemporary murder investigation. Corrin also appeared on stage in *Orlando* at London’s Garrick Theatre in 2022, playing Virginia Woolf’s gender-changing protagonist in a production adapted and directed by Neil Bartlett. In 2024, Corrin joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Cassandra Nova in *Deadpool & Wolverine*, portraying the powerful villain associated with the X-Men comics.
