Hit

Hit is a fictional assassin from Universe 6 in Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super manga and television anime. He first appears during the Universe 6 versus Universe 7 tournament, where Champa recruits him as his team's representative fighter. The tournament occurs on a constructed planet and determines which universe receives Earth and the Super Dragon Balls as prizes. Hit's history is presented through his reputation as a professional killer who has completed contracts for roughly a thousand years. That extraordinary lifespan is stated in dialogue and explains his accumulated experience rather than identifying an ordinary biological age directly. His signature technique is Time-Skip, which lets him move through brief intervals while opponents remain unable to react normally, effectively. The ability initially grants him a tenth of a second, but he improves its duration and application during combat repeatedly. Against Goku, he combines Time-Skip with precise strikes and adapts after Goku recognizes the technique's timing and limitations in battle. In the manga and anime versions of the tournament, Hit defeats Vegeta and ultimately fights Goku in a matched bout. Goku pushes him to use a concealed assassination method after the official match ends but later challenges him again privately. In that rematch, Hit receives a contract to kill Goku and stages an attack convincing enough to satisfy the client. Goku survives by restarting his heart with energy and then asks Hit to continue improving through future encounters together afterward. Hit returns as Universe 6's strongest entrant in the Tournament of Power, a survival contest held by Zeno, the Omni-King. During this battle, he works with allies including Kale and Caulifla while targeting opponents from multiple universes inside the arena. Jiren eventually overcomes Hit after Hit uses an elaborate technique that traps Jiren in a pocket of temporal distortion briefly. Hit is eliminated when Jiren breaks free and knocks him from the Tournament of Power stage during the finale decisively. Unlike many Dragon Ball villains, Hit is not motivated by conquest or revenge; he treats assassination as disciplined employment only. His reserved speech and purple attire distinguish him visually, while his fighting style emphasizes careful observation, timing, and precise movement constantly. The character's importance lies in expanding Dragon Ball's universe beyond familiar Saiyan conflicts through Universe 6's distinct culture and fighters. His battles establish Time-Skip as a tactical power with explicit limits, while later appearances develop his capacity for change further.
