Uncle Istvan would benefit a control deck that aims to stall the game and protect its life total, especially against aggressive creature-based strategies. However, there are better options available in Magic: the Gathering for similar effects, such as [[Fog Bank]] or [[Wall of Denial]], which offer more versatility and resilience. Uncle Istvan may not see much play in competitive decks due to its restrictive mana cost and limited protection ability.
