A dragon tribal deck in a white-heavy control strategy would benefit from including Scalelord Reckoner as it provides protection for your dragon creatures by instantly removing threats when targeted. However, for a more competitive option, Dragonlord Dromoka could be a better choice since it also has flying and provides a form of protection by preventing opponents from casting spells on your turn. Scalelord Reckoner could see play in specific dragon-themed decks but may not be a staple given its restrictive mana cost and limited impact compared to other options.

Scalelord Reckoner’s triggered ability resolves before the spell or ability that caused it to trigger. The ability will resolve even if that spell or ability is countered.
