Ornery Goblin would fit well in an aggressive red deck that focuses on dealing damage quickly while maintaining board presence, as its ability to deal damage when blocking or being blocked can help remove opposing creatures or deter attacks. However, there are arguably better options for a similar role, such as Goblin Guide or Monastery Swiftspear, which offer more aggressive stats and abilities that can apply pressure early in the game. While Ornery Goblin can see play in niche builds or casual formats, it may not be the most competitive choice in optimized decks.

The triggered ability triggers once for each creature blocking or blocked by Ornery Goblin. The ability resolves and deals damage to that creature before combat damage is dealt. If that damage destroys all creatures blocking Ornery Goblin, Ornery Goblin doesn’t become unblocked.
