Long Road Home could be beneficial in a white control deck looking to temporarily remove a threat from the battlefield while also providing a boost to the returned creature. However, cards like Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares offer more permanent removal options without the drawback of returning the creature, making them potentially better choices for removal in most scenarios. Long Road Home could see situational play in decks that value the +1/+1 counter synergy or need a temporary answer to a problematic creature.

At the time the creature is exiled, Auras attached to it will be put into their owners’ graveyards. Any Equipment will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on it at that time will cease to exist.
